Any coffee company named Killer Roasting Co. must turn heads and draw attention! In this week’s feature, I am super thrilled to share with you all about this Pasadena, California based specialty coffee company and their rendition of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Idido.
According to Killer Roasting Co.’s website, the name stuck after learning more about and seeking to pay tribute to the founder’s grandpa, per his nickname, "Killer." What’s more important are the characteristics of this person; “a pure craftsman, believing in quality work and having a keen eye for the details.” When it comes to specialty coffee, paying close attention to the smallest details in every step is crucial towards achieving the desired taste in the final cup. Killer Roasting’s mission statement puts the cherry on top: “We love coffee. We love that coffee allows us to explore new places, expand on our creativity and knowledge, and connect with people around the world. Take a journey with us and drink good coffee. Explore daily.”

I was extremely excited to receive the care package from Killer Roasting Co. I mean, aside from the edification of the coffee and having a deep love for Ethiopian origin sourced coffees, packaging also plays a major role in tantalizing the excitement! A simple brown bag etched with gold lettering is simply beautiful and pops to the eye.
Let’s dive into the flavor profiles of this coffee. In the first sip while the coffee was still hot, I picked up notes of smoked brown sugar and a crystalline structured quality. As the coffee cooled though, taste profiles of blueberries jumped, giving the famous “fruit bomb” characteristic that Ethiopian coffees are known to possess. The Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Idido is a medium bodied coffee, giving silky and wholesome satisfaction with every sip. This is one that I highly recommend that you try if you love indulging in fruit forward coffees like me!
I hope you all are having a fantastic week and as always, stay caffeinated and fly.
Until next week with ❤️+☕️,
