It is an inspiration to see the “Third Wave” coffee movement start taking its course in various parts of the country, especially when it is in my home state. In the growing city of Rocklin, California is where Mast Coffee Company roasts its micro lot, single origin sourced coffees.
I was given a very good first impression when trying the first of Mast Coffee Co.’s coffees: Kenya Ngunguru. Though it is a washed process coffee, the fruity flavor notes that the coffee carries surprised me!
By utilizing the Hario V60 pour over method, the yield of coffee brings strong notes of rosewater, freshly picked strawberries, and green grapes, while possessing a pleasant acidity. Overall, the coffee has a light body to it, giving way for the coffee to reveal its character while my palate delves into its flavors.
