Last December, I had the blissful opportunity to wander the streets of Stockholm, and within the first few hours, I knew I was in love with the city and the country. In this installment of EmmMeetsCoffee, I’m talking with Lakis Psomas, founder of Fikabaren.
Emmeline Wang: Can you tell me more about yourself and your journey to establishing Fikabaren?
Lakis Psomas: The last 7 years as a barista and cafe owner I still show up to work, meeting wonderful people and trying to convince them to come back to enjoy my coffee. Building community and experiences that have value is my top priority. Fikabaren will turn 3 years in April and we’re very humbled that we’re able to pursue what we’re passionate about.
EW: Congratulations on placing 2nd at this year's Swedish Brewer's Cup this year! What was your experience like being a business owner all while preparing for competition?
LP: Thank you so much! I’m very proud to be the runner-up champion of Sweden.
I’m actually very glad that I found the time to prepare for competition and complete this year. I need to say that it is a big challenge to own a business and prepare for any type of competition. Having the best colleagues who helped me take care of Fikabaren while I prepared for Brewer’s Cup is truly a blessing.
I also felt, that I had much more to prove as a cafe owner which off course gives you extra pressure. But at the same time I like to challenge my self and the result was pretty good, so I’m happy
EW: What are some projects you are excited about that is happening within Fikabaren and in Sweden?
